Driving down the 101

It is 10.15pm on a saturday night, and I'm stuck at home trying to recover from a dastardly flu bug. Oh what is a girl to do other than blog about her USA trip and feel sorry for herself? Anyway, continuing from LA, we drove back up North on the Pacific Coast Highway, or what we know as Route 101, you know from Phantom Planet's "driving down the 101, California here we come, right back where we started from"? It's been hailed as one of America's must-do scenic routes, and it really was so so beautiful. We sectioned out our drive into stretches of around 6 hours, but we got slowed down a lot just cos we spent so much time stopping at look out vistas to take photos! But it was worth every minute of it. Also, we stupidly mistook another bridge for the Bixby Canyon Bridge hahaha extremely anticlimatic when we saw the real deal. One of the most magical moments was when we were on the Big Sur and the sun was setting, so we stopped by somewhere and watched it go down, and right below the cliff we were perched on there was the occasional bark of sea lions. After all the requisite jumpshots and photos, we each chose a rock to sit on. With utter silence save for the crash of the pacific ocean on the rocks below, those sea lion barks and our own heartbeats, we watched the sun disappear into the horizon.
